Ski in Iran Iran is a mountainous country with great ski resorts. Skiing in Iran is a special winter sport with its own fans. Many tourists annually travel to Iran for skiing in its high peaks. In the north of the capital city of Tehran, there is the Tochal ski piste located on the high mountain of Tochal at 3964m altitude. In the north of Tehran province in the Central Alborz Mountains, there are three other main Iran Ski areas that were opened before Iran's revolution. Dizin is one of these ski resorts. It is 80 km away from Tehran capital in heart of the Alborz Mountains. Dizin is Iran's biggest and main ski piste. Dizin’s weather condition offers the longest period for skiing, normally starting in mid-December and ending in late March. There are two other fantastic ski resorts near Dizin in the Alborz Ski Region in the north of Tehran, called Darband Sar and Shemshak. It is only 60 km from Tehran downtown to Shemshak and Darbandsar Ski pistes and the driving time takes about 2 hours through mountainous roads at high altitudes. The resort has a reputation for powdery snow, high altitude (one of the world's 40 highest ski centers), and north-facing slopes. Average snowfall is 1.5 meters (5 feet) at the base but doubles on the upper slopes. Shemshak village could be the best place to have access to those three ski areas. It embraces a hotel, lodge, and private houses. Depending on your interest and level of skiing, you can choose any one of them for skiing during your trip. The altitude of the village is around 2700 m above sea level. These ski resorts are above the village and you have to reach them on foot. Under the skiing tour tab of Adventure Iran’s

Cycling in Abyaneh & Maranjab Desert Iran has a lot of region in the deserts for cycling and in some part of the desert you can see the icons of the ancient Silk road like caravanserais and historical castles and forts. On this trip we have chosen a desert region in the south of Tehran province which is in the north side of Esfahan province. Maranjab desert is the name of a region in the north west of Dasht-e Kavir desert and Abyaneh is a historical famous village located in the west of it. May is the end of season for desert activity and cycling as well. So the group reached the desert on the edge of the hot season but fortunately the weather was a bit breezy and it was not difficult for our cyclist to endure. They started this trip from Esfahan and passed a couple of mountain regions to reach Abyaneh village. The village is located in the mountains with cool temperatures in spring and sometimes snow in the winter but it is very close to the desert which has such a different temperature. They slept a night in the village and the next day continued cycling toward the Maranjab desert. They passed through different landscapes and terrains on their way to there. The tour started via a paved road from Abyaneh which was an amazing road without any cars or vehicles passing and then crossed gravel roads when they entered the desert and then dirt and sand roads in the middle of the desert. In some parts they passed the sand dune hills and in one region crossed the edge of the flat desert area which was a part of the Salt Lake of the desert. At the end of the day they reached

MTB in Dena National Park Dena is the name of a protected area and it's on the list of Iran’s National Parks. In addition, Dena is the name of a famous mountain chain about 80 km above 4000m which is located in the southern part of Zagros mountain range. We performed a lot of tours for climbing the high peaks of Dena chains as it has about 40 mountains above 4000m. This time we designed a mountain biking tour to visit the remaining highlights of the park, passing different parts of the area. We performed it in April 2019. As you can see in the video we still had snow in some parts of the roads as well as a lot of snow on the peaks. This made an unforgettable mountain trip for our clients who came from Switzerland. Most parts of the route were single track and they passed many villages and rural areas in Dena region. The support planned for this trip with our 4x4 cars, was one of the most challenging parts of this trip as we had an avalanche a couple of days before the trip and the snow destroyed some part of the dirt road which we have chosen for support. We spent some time maintaining the road with the help of our clients to cross this part and it was one of the most daring parts of the trip for us and our guests. The trip started in Yasuj and finished in Esfahan city. Meeting nomadic people and socializing with them was one of the good experiences the group had on this trip and it was a surprise for the locals as they have never seen a bunch of cyclists together passing this region before. Hope you enjoy the video and if you

Tehran to Caspian Sea MTB The video is about a challenging mountain biking trip from the capital towards the coast of the Caspian Sea. The team of riders were Slovenian and they did this trip after their expedition MTB Damavand ascend. From Tehran to the Caspian Sea there are different treks through paved roads, dirt roads, mountains and single tracks. This mountain biking trip to the Caspian is through the mountains and single track roads which is the hardest path to the north of Iran. They chose the historical route that was used for trading between Tehran and the Caspian Sea’s nearby regions when there were no man made roads between towns. They passed Lar National Park, Yush village, Kandelus historical village, a couple of mountains, passes, ridge line and Hyrcanian Forest on the way and slept in local houses and a mountain lodge during the trip. There were a few rivers they had to cross and depending on the season it might be possible to see wild animals in the mountains. Also there are a couple of waterfalls after Lar Valley which is nice to have a stop in and rest on the trail. They finished this mountain biking trip in Nowshahr city in the Caspian coast and slept in a small hotel on the coast, and swimming in the sea at the end made the trip a wholesome one in this adventurous journey to Iran. Darbandsar Ski Resort in Iran ALBORZ SKI REGION Darbandsar ski resort in Iran is one of the main ski resorts in the country, located in Darbandsar village, northeast of the capital. From Tehran, it is only 65km away and takes one and half hours to reach it. The history of the piste goes back to around the time of the Iran Islamic revolution. Before the revolution, many local skiers traveled to Europe for the ski championships. With the help and support of a few ski enthusiasts from various countries, decisions were made to create a new ski resort in the Alborz Ski Region. They bought a brand-new lift from the Poma company in France in 1978. This lift was kept in Iran’s customs control for a period due to the timing of the revolution. This project was suspended until things had settled down so it took longer than originally planned. After a few years, actually, at the beginning of 1982, the Darbandsar piste was born. Subsequently, the locals bought more ski lift equipment to improve the piste and make it more advanced and keep pace with other pistes in Iran. The altitude is 2600m to 3600m. This piste, as mentioned, is located in the Alborz ski region in the Central Alborz Mountains. Darbandsar ski resort was originally a small piste in Iran. Fortunately, it now belongs to a private company that developed the region and purchased new ski lift equipment. It is fast increasing in size, overtaking Shemshak and Tochal pistes. Nowadays Darbandsar is an important and well-known ski hub for Iranian skiers. It is also becoming more popular with locals. Lift Systems: 1st station: 2600m Last station: 3600m The ski resort has two ski lifts, three chair lifts (two 4-seater ski lifts, one two-seater chair
