After many years of experience in travelling around the world we know that most tourists travel according to classic itineraries; only professionals and real adventurers take the adventure and travel to untouched and non-touristic areas. In Iran classic routes consist of towns, cities and monuments visited by anyone but you wouldn’t have the chance of being in touch with locals and experience their real way of life. One of the main highlights of Iran in terms of nature can be its deserts. As Iranian deserts were part of the “Silk Road” there are many historical monuments and sites left from that era worth paying a visit. There are many different flora and fauna living in this hot place and many caravanserais still accepting guests and tourists. This tour is NOT only a desert tour we have combined sightseeing in small towns, exploring rural areas and some activities such as a short hiking on a small mountain along with desert trekking and a short 4×4 off-road desert tour in the heart of the desert.
This tour has been designed to take you away from major touristic cities of Tehran, Esfahan or Shiraz … into the real life of locals. On this trip you will not only see the main attractions advised in the Desert Detour guidebooks, but also you will have the chance to visit many untouched and unknown attractions on this route that the book missed. You will see the historic villages and stay with local people enjoying their homemade food, become familiar with their customs and way of life.
The trip will take 13 days. The total route travelled to the ground in 13 days will add up to 2500 Km but the distance would be divided in such a way not to be tiresome for travelers. The type of vehicle used in this trip depends on the number of tourists, mostly we use comfortable tourists vans and minibuses. This is a group tour and the travelers coming from different countries with different airline and our meeting point will be in the afternoon of the first day of the tour. We will give you more information when you booking the tour.
We will start from Tehran on the first day of the tour by train towards Esfahan and there is a possibility of traveler join us on the second day from Esfahan as well. The tour has two parts and each part takes around a week. The first part is Central desert of Iran “ Dasht-e Kavir” From Esfahan to Yazd and takes one week and the second part is Lut Desert and start from Yazd and take you to Kerman. On this trip from Esfahan we will go the Southern East direction of the country. We will see many small desert town, villages, oases and caravanserais. We will reach to Yazd after a week and after visiting Yazd ancient town we will continue the journey to Kerman “the southeast” one week more. Most of the time on the desert we have live music performance, handling by locals and also for the camping night depend on the visibility of the desert we have astrology observing for a couple of hours as well.
The difficulty range of the trip is easy, but all attendees must have prepared for this trip. Every day we have a lots of exploring and short hiking on the remote area and every day we have to check out from their accommodations. This is a tight tour and we have many places for visit. Only one part of the tour is moderate (trekking in the desert) but we can transfer those who wish to skip trekking by a 4WD vehicle to the camp. Accommodations on this trip are shared rooms in guest houses or local home stay in villages and countryside, one night in a tent, and one night in hand made cave. All accommodations in villages are clean local lodgings renovated for the purpose of hosting national and international tourists. The tour guides are all experienced individuals with a very good knowledge of villages and visiting places.
During the trip, there are clean hygiene services available in all staying places in villages. All accommodations have shared toilet and bathrooms and some of them have seat type toilet.
