This multi-activity trip takes you to Golestan province which is one of Iran’s Off the beaten Track destinations. This destination is located in the northeast of Iran in the southern part of Turkmenistan country. The tour is a combination of different attractions, visiting cultural-historical sites of Golestan, a couple of UNESCO sites like Gonbad-e Qabus and the Hyrcanian forest. Experience a train journey in Iran through a branch of Trans-Iranian Train which is registered in the list of Iranian UNESCO sites from Tehran to Gorgan, visiting diffirent untraveled routes of this amazing province, visiting Turkmen tribes in a few regions, exploring a historical cemetery and Portrait and Landscape Photography in special locations that we have marked on your travel itinerary.The main highlight of this trip is the people which are a verity of Baluchis, Kazakh (Qazaq), Persian, Qizilbash, Mazandaranis, Azeris, Kazakhs, Kurds, Armenians, Georgians and Sistanis who are living in the Golestan province. Along the above different attractions of this trip, you will also visit two historical Iranian Caspian Sea ports of Bandar Gaz and Bandar Turkmen as well. You will have a short walking trip through the forest to learn more about the different type of trees in the Hyrcanian Forest. The type of accommodation is a combination of traditional guest houses, classic hotels, historical houses renovated as boutique hotels and Turkmen Yurt houses. The type of food is also a combination of local meals, Iranian Kabab which is famous in this region and Persian cuisine. You will travel to Golestan with a night train and you will continue your trip with a local transport. You will start your tour from Tehran and finish it in Tehran as well.

Day 1: Arrival Tehran

An Adventure Iran representative will pick you up from the IKA airport and transfer you to your hotel in Tehran downtown. (-,-,-)

Night Train to Golestan

You will be free in the hotel and in the evening you will travel to Golestan by a night train. Overnight stay in a private compartment. (B,-,D)

Day 3: Caspian Sea ports and the island

You will arrive early morning by train and have a full day of exploring including visiting a couple of historical ports in the southeast of the Caspian Sea and a boat trip to Miankaleh protected island. Also we will visit a village and photograph the people involved in their daily life. Overnight stay in a historical house in a village. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Gorgan and Ziarat

Today’s plan is to visit two special villages and an open air Turkman local market and Gorgan city “Estarabad” the Capital province. Overnight stay in a local house in the touristic village of Ziarat. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Hyrcanian Forest

Today we will have a walking tour in the most important forest of Iran which is the Hyrcanian Forest (UNESCO). We will also visit a couple of handicraft workshops and a few villages and beekeeping regions in the forest. Overnight stay in a mountain in a house in the forest. (B, L, D)

Day 6: Gonbad and Ramian

Today plan is visiting the historical city of Gonbad with its UNESCO site of Gonbad-e Qabus and a half a day short hike to a mountain to visit Maran Castle. Overnight stay in traditional guest house. (B, L, D)

Day 7: Turkman plain and Khalid Nabi historical cemetery

We will travel to another region which is in the northern part of Golestan province and we will explore a few remote villages along the famous historical cemetery of Khalid Nabi. Overnight stay in Turkman yurt in a village in the plain. (B, L, D)

Day 8: Golestan National Park

Today plan is drive to high mountains through a forest and visit an amazing landscape of Golestan natiolan park and do some photography of the villages and people. Overnight stay in a local house in the village near the park. (B, L, D)

Day 9: Train to Tehran

We have a short walking around the village and visit the life style of the locals working on the fields. We will drive back to Gorgan and from there you will have a night train toward the Capital. Overnight stay in private compartment in the train. (B, L, D)

Day 10: Tehran city tour

You will arrive to Tehran in the morning. Check in to the hotel and after a short rest you will have an optional city tour of Tehran. Overnight stay in hotel in Tehran. (B, -, D)

Note: on this day we will book your hotel from the night before for you to be able to check in early morning of the 10^th day.

Day 11:Departure

According to the flight time we will transfer you to IKA airport to fly back home. (B, -, -)
