Iran is a large and extensive country with a lot of mountains, vast deserts, and lush forest. To have an idea how big size is that, from Nowshar (in the Caspian Sea coast) to Bandarabas (coast of the Persian Gulf) it’s around 1500 km which is equal from Paris to Budapest and also from the north west of Iran (Bazargan) to the south east of the country (Chabahar) it’s around 2650 km which is close to the distance between Paris to Istanbul. It means the distance is equal with the whole Europe from west to east. So with that example, you can easily understand cycling the whole of Iran with a short trip is impossible. On this journey we will cover a cycling adventure from Tehran, the capital, which is in the northern part of the country towards the southern part in Shiraz, where one day was the capital of the Persian Empire. The distance on the highway road between two cities is 930 km. But our route is longer as we have to escape cycling from the highway or busy roads for safety reason. Adventure Iran creates a special route between two cities of Tehran and Shiraz to connect all of the main cities which is in Iran classic route (the popular route that most of travelers and first visitors visit). As Iran still is a new destination for the world, there are hundreds of hidden attractions in non-touristic area which is never unveiled for visitors. On this route alongside main highlights of Iran and 9 world heritage sites you will visit, we tried to add plenty of hidden attractions of Iran on our cycling route as much as we can. In that way you will be more in touch with local on this route. This advantage will extend the route as well as the time of travel. For making a very efficient trip for adventurous riders who has passion to experience something different with other travelers, we produce a compress the itinerary and decrease the number of travel days. This Adventure Iran’s cycling journey will give you another glass to explore this country deeper that other travelers do.
This amazing mountain biking journey designed for adventurous riders who would like to visit Iran for the first time and wanted to mix it with cycling activity together. The route will enable you to cycle through the off the beaten path of Iran from the north toward the south with visiting non-touristy area.
The tour will start from Tehran visiting a few of the major sights of the capital. Our cycling adventure journey will take us to Shiraz through the central of Iran and the Dahst-e Kavir desert. We connected these two cities via unknown small towns and villages through a combination of dirt and paved roads. From Tehran, you will cross Kashan, Isfahan, Yazd which is the main touristic destinations on the way to the south (Shiraz). To escape from the main road, it’s been a lot of research and effort to find the best way to connect this location to each other’s. We also have to cross many of times, mountains and hills through dirt roads and central desert of Iran as well. The length of the total route is around 1300 km by car which the cycling part covers approximately 500 km. On the way we will cross all of the main UNESCO heritage sites of Iran and stay one night in each essential urban to visit the main highlights of those cities with one day sightseeing tour. Also, we will pass through a lot of small towns, historical villages, as well as Iranian desert of Dasht-e Kavir. There will be a total of 10 days of cycling between the capital to Shiraz and we will have 5 NON-cycling days. The journey is led by professional crews and supported by vehicle. An English speaking MTB guide will be with the group from the beginning to the end. In the main cities for cultural exploring, an English speaking guide will join us to have more knowledge of this ancient country. A support vehicle will be with us during the entire of the tour and it would be helpful for who would like to skip a part of the road.
