In Iran there are different nomads’ tribes whom they live in the nature of Iran in Alborz and Zargros mountain range. One of the famous ones is Bakhtiari nomads which they are majorities of Iran nomads and on this adventure Iran trip, we are going to cross through their tents and settlements. Also there are other nomad tribes called Qashqaee, Boier Ahmadi, Shah Savan nomads which who lives in different regions. Bakhtiari’s ethnic groups are living in central and southern part of the Zagros mountains. They will move from lower altitudes to a high mountain from early spring till mid – autumn with their family and sheep. Bakhtiari’s nomads belong to Chahar Mahal and Bakhtiari province, which they are mainly in Zard Kuh mountain chains doing their seasonal movement KOOCH. This tribe has different customs, dialectic and cloths with other tribes. Bakhtiari’s nomads are mainly in the west of Esfahan province where is Zard Kuh mountain.

This is a short trek in heart of Zagros mountains alongside nomadic tribes of Bakhtiari. On this trip besides of amazing trekking in the mountain you will visit nomads who live in the mountains and you will understand their way of life by walking through their tents in the Zagros mountain foothills. We will start the tour from historical city of Esfahan and we drive to west of Chaharmahal province takes 4-5 hours. After overnight stay in a village, you will drop you extra stuff in the village and with a light backpack you will start two days trekking through canyon all the way via nomadic tribes. The highlights of this tribe is visiting originals tribes who live in their old tents with their children and women works alongside of men in the mountain. During the day you will have 5-6 hours hiking with moderate level of difficulty and we will have a couple of stop in our trek in nomadic regions. The trek will finish in a village in middle of mountain and we have two hours off road driving to back to the first village and from there you will catch your main backpacks and drive back to Esfahan.

Day 1: Drive to Zardkuh mountains

You will be picked up from your hotel in Esfahan at noon and it’s a long drive to a village takes 5 hours (300 km). The last two hours of driving is on the dirt road to reach the village. We will drive on a curvy mountain road via heights of Zagros mountains and on the way we will cross through a lot of nomadic areas whom they live in the mountains. In the late afternoon you will arrive to the village. You will stay in the very basic nomadic house in a village. (D)

Day 2: Trekking through nomadic tents

After early morning breakfast we will start the trek through a canyon all the way down to the valley and take the current of the river for a couple of hours.we will continue the trek to our first night camp. The camp area is a nomadic region and we are going to stay with them in the night and enjoy their hospitality with them. Today’s hike is around 23 km takes 7-8 hours. (B, L, D)

Day 3: Drive back to Esfahan

After early breakfast in the tent we take the river to continue the trek in the canyon. After a couple of hours we have to climb up around 500 m and walk till afternoon. We will entry to another exotic village and after photography and a short rest we will pick you up with a local car and send you to the 1st village that you start. After two hours drive on the dirt road. You will take your stuff and drive back to Isfahan city. You will arrive there in the evening.. (B, L)
