Together with their natural attractions and their amazing landscapes, the history of Iran’s desert regions makes Iran a unique and appealing destination for travellers seeking a rewarding experience.
Dasht-e Kavir desert, one of the two vast Iranian desert regions, was a part of the ancient Silk Road and has an abundance of reminders of time gone by. You can see proof of this heritage by visiting some of the enormous number of castles, historical mosques, the Persian Gardens in desert regions (UNESCO), the Persian Qanat (UNESCO), and the Persian Caravanserais: (UNESCO registered 54 of them on their world heritage sites). Many of the remaining monuments and heritages are waiting for registration on the list of tentative UNESCO sites .
Many famous travel writers, scientists and explorers such as Alfons Gabriel and Sven Hedin travelled to this region more than 100 years ago for their research and explorations. This whole area holds endless mysteries for adventurous travellers willing to experience something quite different from other tourists.

On our way there, we’ll stop by the Talik Khaneh temple which is Iran’s oldest mosque. As we’ll be passing through stunning scenery, we’ll break to take photographs on our way to the small town that is the starting point of the trek. We will also pass an old underground water reservoir, date palm orchards and ancient villages with still standing primitive buildings. You’ll be staying in different lodgings every night during the trek which are a combination of traditional guest houses, local houses and campsites.
After finishing the trek, we’ll continue the journey to visit the remaining fascinating places by vehicle.
