Lut Desert

The Lut Desert, or Dasht-e-Lut, is located in the south-east of the country. Between June and October, this arid subtropical area is swept by strong winds, which transport sediment and cause aeolian erosion on a colossal scale. Consequently, the site presents some of the most spectacular examples of aeolian yardang landforms (massive corrugated ridges). It also contains extensive stony deserts and dune fields. The vast desert of Lut is one of the most beautiful deserts in the world which has a combination of terrains, flat desert, polygon, sand dunes, salty river, dried river, volcano rocky mountain and forests. To compare to other deserts of the world, Lut desert has all of the attractions you have seen as well as hidden spot of tribes who still live in the desert and villages which is still unknown. On this expedition desert trekking, we will have 6 days continuous trek through the most beautiful part of Lut desert and approximately we will walk around 200 km during this trip.

Day 1: Tehran Arrival- IBIS hotel

Check in to hotel in the IKA airport

Day 2: Fly to Kerman- Transfer to Shafiabad

Free time fly to Kerman. Transfer from Kerman airport to Shafiabad village. Overnight stay in desert guest house (Ecolodge).

Day 3: Dolfin valley – 1st day trek (34 km)

After early morning breakfast we will pack out backpack and start the first day trek from Shafiabad caravanserai. We will cross through a couple of dried rivers and we will come across via Nebkas tress forest. More and less the length of the forest is around 10 km and after passing the forest we will arrived to a flat desert and we will continue our trek to Dolfin valley which is occupied with smalls Kaluts in the whole valley. We will have lunch in the way and we will finish out todays trek in the first camp. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Rudshoor (Salty river) – 2nd day trek (27 km)

Today trek is totally different with yesterday. We will start the first 10 k with a flat desert and then we will enter to a new valley called “blue valley” and after another 10 k we will arrived to Rudshor region it means salty river and after a couple of kilometer we will make our 2nd camp in Rudshoor and prepare the dinner in the camp. Overnight stay in the camp. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Gandom Beryan volcano – 3rd day trek (30 km)

After early morning breakfast in the camp we will collect our camp and pack once again to continue today trek. We will walk towards Gandom Beryan volcano region which is the home of the hottest place in the earth. You will walk on the volcano around 2 km and continue our trek to Polygon region. We will cross this region which is around 10 km wide. Afterwards we will continue our trek towards Kaluts region. We will make the 2nd camp in Gandom Beryan and prepare the dinner in the camp. Overnight stay in the camp. (B, L, D)

Day 6: Kaluts region- 4th day trek (35 km)

Today trek we cross through sand and kaluts. This day we changing the terrain

Day 7: Kaluts region - 5th day trek- (35 km)

Day 9: Village exploring

We will have nice visiting of a couple of unknown villages in heart of Lut desert. We will visit Golbaf town, we will visit colorful mountains of Golbaf. Overnight stay in a Zarrood village which is Hezar kuh foothill. (B, L, D)
