This is an excellent tour for those travellers who like to have a soft adventure trip and are interested in experiencing the nomadic life of Iran in the Zagros Mountains. The nomadic region is located in the northern part of Shiraz in Fars province. The area is mountainous with an altitude of between 2200 -2400 m. It’s the temporary residence of various Iranian nomads during the spring and summer season. The area is off the beaten track region of southern Iran. The road and area you will visit is not on the tourist path. This trip is also the perfect choice for those who have a special interest in the scenery.

The landscape of the Zagros Mountains and the traditional life of the nomad is remarkable for those of you who have an interest in photography. You will see a spectacular sunset and sunrise in your camp area along with experiencing an amazing night with millions of stars without any disturbing lights. There are a few different nomadic tribes living in the area. The most famous Iranian tribe is the Qashqai.

We start and finish our trip from Shiraz city. Spring and summer are the seasons available for this journey. These tribes will move to the lower altitude of southern Iran in the foothills of the Zagros Mountains during the winter and cold season.

Day 1: Shiraz to Nomadic region

You will start your trip from Shiraz, with pick up from your hotel early in the morning. We’ll be passing through beautiful scenery and countryside roads to reach our nomadic region in the highland. We’ll be crossing a steep pass to find the Qashqai tribes in northern Shiraz. It takes a few hours, depending on the number of stops. Lunch is with your Qashqai host in their camp area. After a short rest, you will be free in your camp area to have different activities. Walking around the camp area, photography, watching the daily activity of the people and socializing with the locals would be an unforgettable experience on your short trip with the Qashqai tribes. Preparing for sunset and photographs, plus seeing the herd returning to their camp area around sunset, would also be interesting. Dinner will be with your host in the camp where you can enjoy joining their nightlife around the fire and experience an amazing night by watching the stars. Overnight stay in a tent. (L, D)

Day 2: Return to Shiraz

You will have an option to wake up at dusk, before sunrise, to watch the activity of shepherds with their herds to experience nomadic life. Then you could watch the sunrise and take photographs of spectacular scenery in the nomadic camp area. You will have breakfast with nomads and enjoy their delicious dairy. Then you will have a walking exploration with your guide to visit different areas and find any other tribes who are settled around the region. Then return to the camp area to pack and return to Shiraz. Arrival will be in the afternoon. (B)

For those of you who prefer NOT to return to Shiraz, it can be arranged for you to continue your trip to Yazd or Isfahan.
