This trip is one of the toughest mountain biking adventures created by Adventure Iran for whom would like to have a challenging active mountain biking near Tehran, the capital. It’s designed for professional mountain bikers with good physical fitness who have previous experience in different mountains. This trip is a two day exciting adventure starting from Tehran. The location of the mountain is in in Lavasanat district, which is located in the heart of Alborz Mountains. Lavasan is in the center of Lavasanat and the office of Caravan Kooch (Adventure Iran) is in Lavasan town as well.  Lavasanat is a countryside district located in northeast of Tehran. The first day plan is mountain biking from Lavasan up to the base camp on the mountain. We have around 1000m ascending to reach the camp place (2700 m). We also pass a couple of villages on the way and we have a few stops to rest and photography. We have an amazing night in the camp with an unforgettable night in a place surrounded by five high altitude mountains from 3000m up to 4000m. The next day plan is to climb to the summit. There is a single trail up to the peak but we have to carry our own bike up to the top. For summit day, we have to ascend 450m. After a short rest in the Parsoon peak, we have an amazing downhill around 1500m back to Lavasan. Depending on the weather situation and the team fitness, there is another detour road back to Lavasan through another single track route to extend the day. If we do detour, we can cross a small forest to reach a lake and will enjoy the beautiful landscape and it might be possible to swim in the lake if the weather permits.  On this trip, Adventure Iran will provide all the camping equipment and sleeping bags as well as mountain bikes, helmet and flat tire kit.  We will run this tour from April to November covering three different seasons. Each season has its own beauty. If you are travelling in autumn or early spring please bring your warm fleece and rain cover as it might rain or snow during those seasons. Also, if you would like to extend this trip please get in touch.

North of Tehran, surrounded by many mountains over 3000 to 4000 meters is a hub for many activities as well as mountain biking. There are some protected areas and national parks situated in the central part of Alborz Mountain range. Most travellers visiting Iran would go far away for mountain biking however It is ignored that only 50 km from downtown Tehran there is a choice of mountain biking in Mt Parsoon in Lavasanat district which is one of Tehran's countrysides. The biking terrain is a mixed of dirt roads with some parts on age-old mule routes. In spring, villages in central Alborz are covered by many different plants and flowers and more water flows in the rivers. During the night, the temperature is a little chilly but day temperature is pleasant. In summer, when Tehran is really hot, the temperature of the villages is enjoyable because of the mountains around which makes it perfect for mountain biking activity. In autumn, there is a great opportunity to see colorful nature of Central Alborz and breathing fresh air outside the capital.

Dasht-e Havij (our camp)

Dasht-e-Havij or Gor chal plain at 2700 m altitude is situated 400 meters above Afjeh village which is one of the most famous attractions in Lavasanat district (northeast of Tehran in central Alborz Mountains). Havij means Carrot and Dashteh Havij means a big field of carrot. There are different historic narrations about its name which indicates the most part of this vast land was planted carrots but you will find no trace of that any more. Gor Chal in ancient Persian language means fire place, the combination of two words; Gor means fire and Chal means place. It is told it’s named that because it was hot comparing to the surrounding places which is so cold but there is no record for this assertion. In real you can see Dashte Havij surrounded by a bunch of high altitude peaks between 3000 – 4000 m protecting this area from wind. During Safavid dynasty (400 year ago), it was an important hunting area with some beautiful cascades called Passchoobak, Saboosetan, Charand and lots of maple trees and of course fruit trees. Along the path at the end of the valley near the rocky wall the remains of Safavid Caravansaries are obvious. There is an old bath dated back to Safavid era which the rural people still use that. Qajar dynasty (200 years ago) used this path to get to the Lar National Park as countryside and from Lar there was an historical mule road towards the Caspian Sea.
