Sabalan Peak

The peak of Sabalan is the third highest peak of Iran with 4811m heigh, it's located on the Ardebil city in Ardebil province, the northwest part of the country. Sabalan or Savalan Mountain as an inactive volcano with 4811 m is one of the most beautiful mountains in Iran. As it is on corner of the country (north west) and it's far from the capital, only special foreigner climbers choose to climb.  For most of the year, the peak is covered with snow as it is in the north of Iran. At the summit there is a beautiful lake in the bowl on the top situated in over 4800 m which makes it one of the world’s highest lakes. Mount Sabalan is actually an inactive stratovolcano and the lake have been formed in the volcano’s hole, which is covered with ice from October till May. From the peak, there is a 360 degree panoramic view of the area and if the weather will be clear you can see many mountains in the north west of Iran and the Caspian Sea as well. Also, there is a lot of wide range of plant and flower around the mountain and during spring it makes magnificent view around the mountain. Also, there are a lot of birds and animals living in the area makes the mountain more attractive. Also, there are a lot of nomad live around the mountain and one of the most famous one is called Shah Savan tribe.
