Trip Notes

Most of Iran’s climbing tour designed for famous Mountains like Damavand, Alam kuh or Zard Kuh Mountains and most of travellers looking for Trekking routes in the guide books or search in the internet to find recommended hiking tours. In the other hand, there are always plenty of adventurous hikers looks for new destinations that other travellers they do not go. This tailor made itinerary is designed for who would like to go on off the beaten track out of the tourist area. Even for local climbers its not a popular route for mountaineering. Another advantage of this exciting hiking is the short distance with the Capital and its one of the nearest mountain region outside of Tehran (50 km from downtown). On this trip, we will send you to Dasht-e-Havij ( Gor chal plain ) at 2600 m above sea level that is located in heart of Alborz Mountains. This area is our base camp and its a vast field surrounded by 5 challenging peaks with different height. (Parsoon peak 3150 m, Saka peak 3270 m, Siah Riz 3290 m, Rizan 3530 m and Atashkooh 3730 m ). On early May, the camp area will be covered by different type of plants and flowers. We will have plan to ascend 3 of those peaks; As the path and difficulty of each peak is different, we will find the best peak according to the group fithness. Your mountain guide will help you to make the best decision on the first night in the camp. But we have chosen 3 of them and wrote it in our daily itinerary. In all of the peaks, we have speactaculare view of many mountains in central Alborz and massive Mount Damavand as well. There is no technical climing for this trip and all of travellers with good physical fitness can join the tour. The grade of this trip is moderate in late spring to early autumn (April – November) and for the rest of the year would be challenging. Also we have to cross some rivers for a couple of times and that would be a good to be prepared with extra cloths and Trekking sandal for this trip. We will have camping in Dasht-e-Havij and supply all of the camping stuff and gears and sleeping arranegment as well.

  • You will be picked up from your hotel at 2 pm; after 1 hour driving, we will get to Afjeh village which is the last village in our way to the mountains. The alltitute of the village is 2200 m and from there we start hiking towards the base camp. The camp area called Dasht-e-Havij or Gor chal plain at altitude of 2600 m. It is the start point for trekking on the following day. We will make the camp and the guide will prepare the dinner. Overnight stay at the tent.

Central Alborz Mountains lie north of Tehran and south of the Caspian Sea within easy reach from the Iranian capital. Here there are a number of natural protected areas and national parks with rich flora and fauna under the protection and supervision of the Iranian Environmental Organisation. Central Alborz Mountains have more than 40 peaks above 4,000m, and many fresh water rivers, picturesque lakes, valleys and canyons. So, there are excellent hiking opportunities for adventure travellers here. Iran’s three major ski resorts (Dizin, Darbandsar and Shemshak) with excellent facilities and a variety of ski lifts and slopes are located in the Central Alborz approx. 65km north of Tehran. The breathtaking “roof of Iran” and the highest peak in the country and the Middle East – Damavand (5,610m) – is also located in this region. The climate and weather conditions in the Central Alborz are seasonal. In early spring and late autumn when there is still snow at the altitudes above 3,000m, the weather can be unpredictable.
