Summary: This a thorough and very fun Trekking expedition covering the entire base of Mt. Damaavand staying between the altitudes of 1800 meters at the lowest and 4000 meters at the highest. It will cover a total distance of 70Km in 5 days. The route will cover a variety of eco-systems and will show you the 4 remarkable faces of Damaavand. Each side of the mountain has its own distinct character which will make the journey more interesting. The purpose of the expedition is to do a thorough job of looking at the 4 distinct sides of Damaavand in a measured way and get used to high altitude and then head to the peak in order to finish with a flourish.

A wonderful route in order to accomplish some high altitude biking. Strictly an early summer ride, otherwise inclement weather would make things tough. In this trip we will be biking through the central part of Alborz mountain range. The biking terrain is mostly on dirt roads with some parts on age-old mule routes and a bit on paved roads. Starting from the west side we will cross to the east, covering a variety of different landscapes and ecosystems which include forests and orchards, beautiful streams, springs and lakes. There will be elevation gain starting with about 2000 meters and pedaling to close to 3300 meters above sea-level. There will be many spots for excellent views of a considerable portion of the mountain range which will have snowy peaks and sometimes spectacular weather. We will also encounter indigenous villagers and pass the slopes of Mt. Damaavand with an altitude of 5610 meters and finish our trip at the small and historical village of Aabe-Garm after pedaling for a total of about 200 kilometers.

This is a combination trip that allows one to experience 2 very different eco systems and climates in a short period of time. We start with 3 days of skiing on the slopes of Dizin. Winter conditions, usually very good light snow and wide long runs. The runs are mostly intermediate with a few more difficult slopes suitable for the skilled skier. We then change gears and wonder into Iran’s central desert which will have very mild pleasantly warm sunny days. The change of scenery and temperature is abrupt and refreshing. 2 days spent in the midst of the most interesting and picturesque part of the desert. The trip is finished off by spending 3 days in and around the city of Yazd. The city itself is a historical gem and its surrounding area also fascinating and picturesque. A combination of high desert plains, oasis mountains and historical and sacred sites.

This trip is designed to accommodate 3 different activities within a limited time range. Due to the fullness of the itinerary and the variety of activities, we have designed everything to be around the vicinity of Tehran. The most you will travel will be 250 km in one day. The remainder revolves around activities close to the city. The tour is divided into 3 sections: Skiing, Light Desert Trekking, Exploring the historical city of Kashan and its environs.

A very special journey through the depth and breadth of Alborz range, and through a fascinating slice of Persian history. This is a memorable trip not only because of its physical beauty and the variety of landscape encountered, but also because we cross paths with history and myth some of which have acquired world renown. This is a voyage through a region that was the territory of Ismaelies and the famous Hassan Sabbah and his infamous Alamoot Castle. The castle and quite a few other fortifications belonged to the Hashashin or what in the west is more commonly known as the Assassins. Our trek follows millennia old routes that have been established by humans which their origins are lost in the fog of time. More recently our journey was made famous by a British lady who came to these parts about one hundred years ago in search of the valley of the assassins and wrote a book about her adventures. Her name is Freya Stark and her book is available in English. The history of Alamoot Castle and this particular sect of Ismaelies go back to about 1000 years ago. They were able to build numerous castles and outposts throughout the mountains and maintain an independent life style away from any central power. They lasted till the Mongol invasion of Persia about 300 years later during 14th century A.D. Their history is long and quite complex, during the trip we will have a chance to give more information and provide the chance to closely examine some of the physical remains of their structures. A truly memorable and adventurous journey that includes the winter activity of skiing, immediately followed by a desert trekking journey conducted in much warmer weather. There are 3 full days of skiing; next you will travel to the historical city of Kashan visiting all the important sites. We will stay the night at a renovated old historical residence getting served with a wonderful local cuisine. We will then enter the desert proper spending the next 4 days trekking through a very interesting, scenic and eventful part of the desert accompanied by a caravan of camels. The last night will be spent at Ateshooni guest house (ateshooni.com) located in the desert oasis of Garmeh. There will be more local cuisine and live music performances. We will proceed towards the city of Yazd, the quintessential desert city of Iran with its unique architecture and Zoroastrian heritage. Along the way we will pas and visit several caravanserais as well as a Zoroastrians sacred pilgrimage site with the name of Chak-Chak. In Yazd we will stay at a 120 year old residence of a famous person with several interior courtyards and many rooms. It has been lovingly restored.

We have carefully chosen a biking route that will offer a variety of spectacular valleys and mountain passages, glacial lakes and beautiful peaks. The type of terrain you will be riding on is mostly dirt roads combined with age old mule trade routes. We will start at a relatively high altitude of 2500 meters and will go as high as 3700 meters, but the route is not particularly strenuous and there is a lot of cruising and fairly even terrain. On average you will be pedaling between 20 to 30 Km per day. Plenty of time left to enjoy the views, take photographs and absorb the ambience. Along the way there will be a variety if interesting subjects to keep you well occupied including deep valleys to stir down, and many of the major peaks to look up; also you will be passing couple of pretty lakes, fruit orchards and picturesque villages.

An unusual journey through an exceptionally beautiful and colorful part of Iran. The unique character of the inhabitants, the unusual architecture and building method, a combination of sea views, deep forested path ways, ridges with expansive vistas, bubbling dark water from the ground, local hospitality and some epic hiking makes this a journey to cherish. This trip divides into 2 segments. The first 4 days are spent using motorized transport to visit historical locations and see part of the country. A great historical fort and castle is on the agenda and the setting is spectacular. Then we switch gears and get on a full 7 day trekking adventure through forest and high passes.

We have designed this trip with 2 clear focuses: The first is a historical, cultural and architectural sojourn into Iran’s jewels of the desert: The cities of Yazd and its smaller neighbor, the town of Meybod. Yazd offers a collection of architectural gems and innovative design solutions for desert survival that illuminate for the visitor a clear picture of Persia’s considerable accomplishments in this matter. The second segment is the core of the trip and consists of off-road pedaling through Iran’s central desert (Dashte Kavir) covering some spectacular landscapes and sceneries of desert and salt formations and covers passing across desert mountain slopes and crossing through a few very interesting small towns and oasis villages. These include places such as Garmeh, Mesr, Aroosaan, Mehrjaan, Ordeeb and Aabe-Garm. We will also cover visiting some of the remains of ancient Persia and the ancestral spiritual practices of its people which is the way of the Zoroastrian religion. This includes a fire temple and place of pilgrimage for the present adherents of the faith. The biking route is part of the old and famous “Silk Road”. We have carefully chosen a part of this route that offers different eco-systems and changes in the landscape which simply are quite astonishing. We will come across mountain slopes and flowing rivers as well as the magical desert with its different colors and formations that together will make this journey enjoyable but more remarkably an adventure that will stay in the memory and grow as a wonderful experience along one’s life’s passage.

The main intention of course is to climb the mountain. But we have designed the trip to be not strictly a mountaineering expedition but a combination of seeing the area, enjoying the hot springs and taking our time to climb the mountain. There are no specialized skills required and we have planned it in such way so that nothing is rushed and the climb will be done in a fairly leisurely and paced manner.

Iran is a mountainous country offering fantastic pistes for skiing as the result skiing in Iran is getting popular for Iranian and other countries. One of the most famous one is Dizin which is located in the Alborz mountains north of Tehran. Driving time is about 2.5 hours from the capital city. The resort has a reputation for excellent snow often like power, high altitude (one of the world''S 40 highest ski centres) and the north facing slopes. Snow depths average 1.5 meters (5 feet) at the base and double that on the upper slopes. Dizin climatologically condition offers the longest time for skiing normally begins in (22 N0V. -22 MAY) Because of the expansion of the region. We also pay special attention to other aspects of our clients well being and make sure that they truly enjoy themselves and remember this trip with fond memories. This is a trip designed to take advantage of the exceptional deep powder skiing afforded to individuals during the late winter and early spring months. This is because at that time the snow is quite stable and little chance of avalanche. This program is for people who have had previous experience in Randonee or Telemark skiing. The days spent are quite vigorous engaged both in uphill travel on skis, as well as downhill runs. So we expect our clients to be quite fit and capable of handling varied snow conditions that one will inevitably encounter on such trips. About 70% to 80% of the downhill skiing is done in powder, sometimes quite deep. The average depth of powder is between 80 cm to 150 cm. One and half meters of snow is quite deep; very enjoyable and fun but it does require previous knowledge of skiing this type of snow on Randonee or Telemark equipment. All the overnight accommodations are in very comfortable Villa-Apartment facilities with all the modern amenities. We want to make sure you are well rested and comfortable so that you can fully take advantage of every day. You will be spending between 3 to 4 hours of pure downhill skiing. The amount of time spent climbing will depend on the speed and strength of the group. But these will be challenging days spent at pretty high altitudes of between 2500 to about 4100 meters.

This is a custom designed tour that we have spent considerable time researching and perfecting it for our clients’ pleasure. The area chosen is quite vast and has tremendous range of terrain and excellent powder snow for some amazing skiing. We do want to remind our clients that conditions may vary and we are engaged in an activity that is adventurous and off the beaten path of normal on-piste skiing. So we expect people to have some knowledge of out of bounds skiing and the experience of dealing with varied snow conditions. This is one of the most interesting and varied tours offered by our company. It consists of 3 separate sections that cover 3 different activities. We can offer this tour strictly due to Iran’s particular climatic features where a winter activity can be combined with warm weather and desert excursions at the same time. The first 3 days will be spent skiing on the slopes of Middle East’s largest ski resort. Then there is a 2 day trip through a very interesting part of the Iranian central desert. The other 5 days will be spent visiting Iran’s considerable historical heritage concentrated in and around the 4 cities of Isfahan, Kashan, Yazd and Shiraz. A very full and action packed tour that will require the participants to enjoy moving and travelling constantly in order to cover a large geographical area. It is not physically demanding but will entail vehicle travel for most days. Once this is accomplished one can claim that they have covered most of the historical and cultural sites in Iran plus travelled through a striking desert and skied on Middle East’s largest ski resort with usually very good powder snow conditions and wide slopes. There will be plenty of opportunities during this trip to mingle with local people, partake in a lot of home made meals and participate in some local and old fashioned musical performances and outdoor celebrations.
